| We Make Media and folly present Rule of Thirds |
|
As part of the Abandon Normal Devices (AND) festival, We Make Media and folly are teaming up to deliver North, a programme of events and activities aimed at inspiring creative professionals to do things differently.
The first main event, taking place in South Cumbria on 31 October 2009, is called Rule of Thirds. Itʼs a one day gathering of creative thinkers, meeting to discuss the impact of digital culture on creative workflow, and to explore the exciting, developing opportunities for how we create, communicate and collaborate. Throughout the day we'll be exploring a challenging array of subjects through speaker presentations, open debate and group exploration. The intention is to bring together creative people from a range of disciplines to share and learn, with an emphasis on exploring innovative approaches, creative workflows and new forms of collaboration. We have six great speakers lined up to present on a diverse range of exciting and challenging subjects: from discussions on how live performance can survive in our “always-on” digital age, to a demonstration of the next generation of 3D web technology. We've chosen a really great venue for Rule of Thirds. Lanternhouse International is a creation centre in Ulverston which provides the perfect space to let ideas and conversations run free. Our main proceedings will be taking place in The Barn, a traditionally-built crook barn. Refreshments will be on tap throughout the day and we'll even be providing lunch - all you need to do is bring yourself and your ideas. We're breaking from convention and taking a unique approach to our speaker sessions, breaking them down into three different sections. In a format weʼve called the Rule of Thirds, attendees will be able to participate in discussions and group research, to really delve into the heart of the subject matter. Weʼve designed the format to allow attendees to get really engaged with the ideas being presented - not just to sit, listen and learn, but also to question, probe and explore. The whole day is about gathering and sharing knowledge, and to get inspired by new ways of doing things.
