Training Bursary
Training bursaries are individually negotiated grants which support training costs, they are designed to be responsive, demand led and meet the flexibility of delivery which is often needed by cultural practitioners.

What for?
Bursaries offer financial support for a wide range of training and development. For example:
 - attending training courses
 - attending conferences or seminars
 - job shadowing or work placements
 - exchange visits (UK only)
 - participation expenses such as travel costs or replacement staff costs
 - material costs

Criteria
To be eligible for a bursary you should meet our criteria. These are:
 - be a CCSP member (it's free to join)
 - live and work (or be preparing to) in Cumbria
 - be employed / be active in creative and cultural industries
 - be able to show how the bursary supported activity will aid development of your practice, business or organisation

We do NOT fund the following:
~undergraduates or those in full time education
~people who have received a bursary from us in the last year
~international travel
~capital equipment or project activity
~full time courses

Min and Max grants
In most cases a maximum of 50% of the total cost of participation can be made. If you're unwaged or meeting the balance from your own resources the bursary maximum rises to 75% of total costs.
The max award would normally be no more than £1000, however we do make exceptions.

What we need in return
We require a report of the training or development activity that we may use to publicise CCSP's work.
You must acknowledge the bursary support in all and any reporting of your development activities.

Some examples
In 2005/06 71 practitioners were supported through the training bursary scheme. Recipients undertook a range of training and skills development opportunities including mind body centring, business coaching, Photoshop training, vocal skills, fundraising training, block printing, bookbinding and European funding workshops.
Have a look at the case studies on this site for more detail.
